LIBATION TRAIL MONTH SUPPORTS LAKE COUNTY’S
CRAFT BREWERIES, WINERIES AND DISTILLERIES
‘Check-in Challenge’ offers prizes while taking a growler, bottle or cocktail ‘to-go’
Lake County’s own artisans, the craft breweries, wineries and distilleries, are getting a big “toast” during November with Lake County Libation Trail Month. The highlight is the “Check-in Challenge,” a destination-experience based passport program with a chance to win prizes for those that “check in” at participating locations. The promotion is hosted by Visit Lake County, the official destination marketing organization for Lake County, Illinois. Different “check ins” are offered throughout the year from the organization, with this month’s kickoff bringing together 23 locations offering locally grown, crafted and distilled adult beverages.
Beverage fans who geo-check in to three or more participating locations through November 30, will be automatically entered to win an overnight stay for two at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, a restaurant gift voucher, and to-go package of “Five Eyes Honey Ale,” brewed exclusively for the resort by Tighthead Brewing Company in Mundelein. Visit Lake County’s “Libation Trail Month” brings together great camaraderie and local flavors, blends and artisans in communities throughout the county.
It also gives an opportunity to support local, helping businesses stay afloat during this difficult time with an indoor dining ban in effect. A robust social media campaign is planned, with various locations participating with live-streaming, virtual happy-hour segments and more. “We’re here to support our communities and businesses throughout the year,” said Visit Lake County Business & Community Development Manager John Maguire. “Now, it’s even more crucial. These places are part of the fabric of what we call ‘home.’ They provide needed revenue and sharable moments like so many other small businesses. They’re also our friends and neighbors.” Maguire and the team at Visit Lake County have been working with businesses to help elevate their brands and drive not only guests to their doors, but create interest and awareness. “We’re setting the stage for greater enjoyment when things open up and people are comfortable.”
The “Check-in Challenge” runs through November 30 and getting set for the sweepstakes is as easy as texting “CHEERS” to 224-706-1133 or visiting experience.visitlakecounty.org. From there, it’s “socially-distanced” with safety and convenience via a geo-location check in. Curbside and takeout options are available, with some offering patio seating (weather permitting). Details on the Lake County Libation Trail and Check-in Challenge are available at visitlakecounty.org/libation-trail.
With health and safety guidance in mind, Visit Lake County embraces visitors’ full return to the iconic attractions, unique spots, natural amenities and countless hotel and dining and beverage options available. They encourage those visiting and planning to stay informed, which includes the new dedicated web hub, Lake County @Home, that “brings Lake County to your home” with virtual events and tours, blogs, itineraries and more.
