Green Day abruptly left the stage during their performance of “Longview,” in Detroit Wednesday night due to a safety concern involving an unauthorized drone. The quick exit left the audience confused, as local police investigated the incident. 10 minutes later the band was back on stage to finish their set.

Former Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna has started a new career as an assistant professor at the University of Michigan. Vrenna, who played with Nine Inch Nails for more than two decades, left the music industry in 2011. His new gig will be to teach recording and production in the Department of Performing Arts Technology, calling the position his “dream job” due to his father’s alumni status.

And finally, a North Carolina musician, Michael Smith, 52, has been arrested for an alleged fraud scheme involving AI. Since 2018, Smith reportedly used AI to stream his music billions of times through fake accounts, amassing over $10 million in royalty payments. He also generated tens of thousands of songs to evade detection. Prosecutors claim Smith’s scheme diverted royalty money from other legitimate artists as well.
